Lisa Smith-Clare is a self-taught dressmaker, with over thirty years experience. She studied Textile design initially before an English degree, followed by a career in Further Education as a lecturer.
Sewing is Lisa’s passion, she has always been a highly creative person and wears the vintage inspired clothes she has made everyday. Lisa is drawn to working primarily with great quality cloth with striking colourful prints. Vintage fabric is her absolute favourite, many frocks have been made from amazing 1950’s curtains. In dressmaking she loves to pattern hack to create the exact shapes she wants to wear and is always working on the techniques involved in getting the best possible fit from a pattern.
She has a creative business Bobo Bun, where she sells her accessories and takes on clothing commissions. Her vintage barkcloth Happy Shopper bags and floral brooches being her best sellers. Through her blog and instagram page the opportunity to make garments and review them for fabric companies came about.
